Jonah

meaning

It came from the Hebrew name יוֹנָה (Yonah) which means “dove”. In the Old Testament, Jonah was a prophet. The word of the Lord ordered him to go to the great city of Nineveh and preach against it, because its wickedness has come up before the Lord. At first, Jonah disobeyed Him and headed for Tarshish instead. Then God sent a great fish to swallow Jonah, and he was inside the fish three days and three nights. Afterwards, he obeyed God and went to Nineveh.
