“…신 포도를 먹는 자마다 그의 이가 신 것 같이 누구나 자기의 죄악으로 말미암아 죽으리라.” (예레미아 31:29-30)

성경에서의 신 포도는 죄가 가득한 행동들을 의미합니다. 이솝 우화에서는, 손에 넣기를 아주 열망하지만 가질 수 없는 것을 가치 없다고 치부해버리는 상황입니다.

기원과 적용

이솝 우화중의 하나인 신 포도의 비유는 이것입니다. 한 여우가 나무에 달려있는 탐스러운 포도 한 송이를 발견합니다. 그 여우는 포도를 따려고 했지만 손이 닿지 않아 결국 포기하게 됩니다. 실망한 여우는 “저 포도는 아주 실 거야.” 라고 말합니다.
