意味

麦と殻を分けるというのは、高い価値のあるものを低い品質のものから分けることです。

起源と適用

殻は脱穀していると穀類から分けられます。この表現は聖書の中で、邪悪や間違った教理を真理から分けることのたとえとなりました。殻は比喩的に価値のないことがらを意味して使われています。
