سيف ذو حدين هو سلاح للمخاطر المحتملة – حاد من كلا الجانبين. إذا لم يتم التعامل معها بشكل صحيح، فإنه يمكن أن يضر بك، بقدر ضربة الهدف بقدر ما يمكن أن يضر نفسك. في كتاب العبرانيين الذي كتبه بولس الرسول، يصف كلمة الله بأنها “أمضى من كل سيف ذي حدين”، لأنها “. خارقة الى مفرق النفس والروح, ومميزة افكار القلب ونياته”. اليوم، يستخدم “سيف ذو حدين” مجازيا للوقوف على شيء له جانب جيد وجانب سيء، على سبيل المثال التكنولوجيا الحديثة مثل الإنترنت والمضادات الحيوية وغيرها
