bible verse

Ruth 1:1

meaning

It came from the Hebrew word רְעוּת (re’ut) meaning “friend” and “compassion”. In the Old Testament, Ruth was married to Mahlon, son of Naomi. After the death of her husband, father-in-law and brother-in-law, Ruth still remained faithful to Naomi and followed her to Bethlehem where she married Boaz, a relative of her late father-in-law. They were the great-grandparents of the future King David.
