Meaning:
It was derived from the Greek name Στεφανος (Stephanos), meaning "crown". In the Book of Acts in the New Testament, Stephen was described as a man full of faith, God’s grace and power. He was stoned to death while preaching, and he was believed to be the first Christian martyr.
