Signs of the times (Matthew 16:3)

Bible Verse:
“…and in the morning, 'Today it will be stormy, for the sky is red and overcast.' You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs of the times.” (Matthew 16:3)

Origin and Application:
Jesus said the above in a response to the Pharisees and Sadducees who tried to tempt him to give a sign from heaven. The “signs of the times” that these people cannot interpret are signs that Christ is coming. Signs of the times became a popular catchphrase to mean signs that take place at our time. “Sign o’ the Times” was used as a title of a famous album by Prince in 1987. Later, Mob Rules in his live album released in 2005 has a namesake title.
Example:
Children getting fat because of a lack of exercise is a sign of the times.
Keywords :
